Sony has sold it’s billion dollar cell chip business to Toshiba after months of speculation. The deal will be finalized before Toshiba can officially operate facilities and production. There is a joint venture between the two giants however, on silicon semi conductors; a main ingredient in the creation of cell chips. So in part, Toshiba’s newly acquired business of cell chip production will be shared by Sony.
Nice – selling your business without completely severing ties. :D

The Toshiba Qosmio G45 is the FIRST laptop with a HDTV DVD burner in the world. After it’s early pre-order promotion in July 07 in Amazon, many have raved about it – of course, it’s always a novelty to own something that is first in the world. Besides being able to burn HDTV DVDs, the laptop has a 17″ screen, 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 CPU, two 160GB HDD, Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, Gigabit Ethernet, Nvidia GeForce 8600M video card with 512MB and 2GB RAM (4 GB max), 1GB Intel Turbo Memory.
Cost?
A Whooping $3199.99, but they can tell you that it’s ALL worth it, of course. :)

*go to Amazon and order yours today?
Toshiba’s Gigabeat u103’s idea of marketing is the fact that it has 24 colors. Choices! But that’s really about it. This MP3 player has 1 Gig of memory only, a 1.1 inch screen which is rather small, and an FM radio playback. Price? $114 for a player that doesn’t really do much.
So if you’re in accessories and matching your outfit with what you hold, you might find one of these 24 colors useful! If not, just spend your money better with something else more worthy for your penny.

This is Toshiba’s ultra thin laptop that is only 2.4lbs. This is significantly lighter for a normal sized laptop. Each unit features a 12.1 inch LED backlit display and comes with a built-in optical drive. It is the ONLY laptop to include a 7mm thin optical drive, mind you.
Look at how thin the Portege R500 looks from the sides. It’s crazily thin and it will probably fit anywhere, which is the reason why they call it ultraportable :)

According to the guys at Gizmodo who did a review on the Portege R500, who had a R500 to play with for a month said that the laptop’s pretty hardy even though it’s so light. That’s a very good call, so gather $1999 and buy yourself one. For that price, i hardly think it’s expensive at all – it’s a pretty good deal considering what’s involved.
Check out their Press Release.

SED TV
SED technology boosts of the best of LCD, Plasma and CRT at a cheap price. These two giants, Canon and Toshiba, have been promising us that they will mass produce SED TVs to the public but their promises has since fallen short everytime with excuses. This time it’s no different. The SED is delayed again because they want to find a way to mass produce them cheaply.
Call wolf too many times and people might just ignore you next time. I hope the SED TV come out soon for their own sake.
Toshiba HD-XA2
A spoof made by the people are Gizmodo on how Sony said their Blu-ray players are going to take over the world in 3 years made me laugh. However, Sony’s world domination message has certainly striked a cord somewhere with the Toshiba because they are cutting their HD DVD prices down down down. The HD-XA2, the HD-A20, and the HD-A2 is now priced at $799, $499, and $399, respectively…that’s at least a $200 bucks cut each.
I guess now the best time to buy them. However, the prices is said to start only in April so hold your horses first because this COULD be a hoax or it could be a wonderful news to those who is eyeing to buy one *nods*
