The Sony Handycam HDR-TG1

handycam-1.png

A perfect camera for the memorable moments in life. This Sony’s camcorder pretty much the no.1 choice if I am looking for a camcorder camera that shoots in HD.

The shell is made out of titanium as well, so that means the camera is light but not cheap-plastic light. A compilation of its specs:
* Records to Memory Stick PRO Duo media
* Sony’s ClearVid CMOS Sensor (with Exmor derived technology)
* BIONZ image processor
* 4.0 MP still images
* Sony Face Detection technology

The camera is going to be released on May 30, 2008. You can pre-order yours from Amazon today.

Sony+Lombardia=Style+Function

That equation above is a succinct as this post can be. Sony and Lombardia has been collaborating to create some of the most beautiful and functional gadgets. Did you check out the square frame speakers called CHO? It’s really sexy and I can so see it framing a room and creating beautiful music for that perfect harmony. Style and function do not always go together as we know.

1 ) HANA (flowers in Japanese).
HANA is a lamp (available in various sizes) in which is place a SONY digital audio player (removable) with speakers. The aim was to show a different approach on how to integrate music to an object that we use everyday without really paying attention to it…from there, we can imagine this system available on all kind of lamps and therefore, having access to our music everywhere at home…

2 ) SEN.
The SEN project consisted in finding the most elegant way to use a flexible screen on any surface, the example that we have here is a wall made of glass…it could be interesting to see this concept used on other objects such as mirrors for example.

3 )CHO, the speaker frame.
This is a marble frame in which were installed 4 speakers (the subwoofer is a bit further) giving a whole new meaning to the word SOUND…the way it is “emitted” or “diffused” can somehow be visualized from the centre of the frame…at the same time, the artist wanted to use it as a way to open new horizons…

4 ) KAKERU.
Possibly the best way to combine an Virtual Surround Sound audio system and a classy rack!
The way this one was made and displayed really stood out and made it very nice to look at…

5 ) MATOI, a new skin for your PC.
MATOI represents the next level of PC customization with the use of fabric or leather…the qualitic of the work was excellent but got me wondering if those laptops remained “usable” on a daily basis.

6 ) YUI.
YUI is a CD player with built-in radio thrown into a metal and wood piece of work, exactly the type of product I wish I had at home!

7 ) TSUKI (the Moon).
Some people wouldn’t want to watch a movie on anything else than a good video projector, but, for some reasons, most of those products failed to deliver an attractive design…TSUKI changes this matter of fact thanks to a Bravia HD projector integrated in a small table…really nice!

8 ) ZA.
Now that you have the TSUKI, you need the ZA, which is an armchair made of leather in which were placed stereo speakers putting you right INTO what the action, I’ve been dreaming of this for ages!

9 ) RIN.
The Standing Speaker…. The RIN is as pretty as the sound that comes out of it, the high tech design seems taken out of a Science Fiction movie…yet another impressive creation.

10) HIBIKI and KANADE.
2 more speakers combining glass and metal for a striking look!

Sony Mylo

Sony Mylo is back with *drumrolls* Sony Mylo 2. :P The Sony Mylo 2 is like a cross-breed between PMP and a PDA. It’s purportedly more user friendly than the other PDAs in the market because it’s made that way. A review was made in Akihabara News about this latest Sony Mylo and while there are good points, there is also the negs about this sleek looking PMP/PDA.

Read review.

Sony’s Z555a, a gesture phone you wouldn’t want to miss

Upon seeing the Sony Z555a, I was immediately attracted to the shiny outer shell of the phone. And upon reading up on it, i found out that this phone is in fact a gesture phone. The shiny exterior has sensors that allows you to wave your calls away. But this phone has not much of the usual frills you can find in other Sony or Nokia phones though – it only has a 1.3 MP camera and no MP3 player. But kudos to the gesture facility that this phone has, now you can wave your calls away without even flipping it because the caller’s name will also appear on the shiny shell of its exterior when the phone rings. How cool is that?

USB compatible Sony Ericsson Phone

usb_ercisson.jpg

Sony Ericsson’s new concept phone has a full USB port – something no phone ever donned yet. But if this concept phone succeeds, then maybe in the near future we will be seeing phones with a little USB port intact. But one nitty gritty detail to this is, who would want a phone that is smaller than your palm size with a hole 1/4 as big as it’s entire body?

Hmm….style or functionality. Tough.

Maybe the USB will only be for larger phones. But…. that’s not exactly stylish is it? Small is stylish, just like matchsticks are beautiful?

Sony sold it’s Cell Chip business to Toshiba

sony_toshiba_shake.jpg

Sony has sold it’s billion dollar cell chip business to Toshiba after months of speculation. The deal will be finalized before Toshiba can officially operate facilities and production. There is a joint venture between the two giants however, on silicon semi conductors; a main ingredient in the creation of cell chips. So in part, Toshiba’s newly acquired business of cell chip production will be shared by Sony.

Nice – selling your business without completely severing ties. :D

Sony’s Portable Reader

sony-portable-reader-system.jpg

If you want to read an honest review about this portable reader, you can check out Popgadget. The Sony PRS500 Portable Reader System is the ultimate digital reader that will probably lighten your load on travels. If you’re someone who tend to take 5-6 books, you will know that they rarely come light and can get very bulky.

Hence, investing in a portable reader would benefit you not only in portability but in accessibility as well. You will have not one or two but as many as six to ten books to entertain your bookworm habit. According to the post in Popgadget, the screen gives such a crisp clarity that it looks like you’re reading out of a book page. That is definitely a breath of fresh air as some portable readers are not as gentle to the eyes given their display sometimes then to look like jagged little characters.

The Sony PRS500 only weighs 9 ounces and is 1/2 inch thick. And with a battery life that will lasts your 7500 page turns. If a book is on average 350 pages then you can have up to 21 books in your reader. I think that says a lot about the functionality and accessibility of this little reader.

The Sony PRS500 Portable Reader System would cost you $279.99.

Sugar run batteries

sony-bio-battery_large.jpg
It is pretty awesome to have batteries that runs on glucose. Sony Japan has created a 4-cell array that runs on sugar and it can power speakers hooked up to a Network Walkman after being duly filled with a squirt of grape extract and a tiny fan, utilizing sugar content found in a Gatorade-type sports drink.

Sony’s Bio Battery seems like an excellent source of example that energy can be green too. I know, I know I have been raving about energy saving, etc etc etc but you know how important this is to the earth right now right?

Anyway, read more about it here…
