A perfect camera for the memorable moments in life. This Sony’s camcorder pretty much the no.1 choice if I am looking for a camcorder camera that shoots in HD.
The shell is made out of titanium as well, so that means the camera is light but not cheap-plastic light. A compilation of its specs:
* Records to Memory Stick PRO Duo media
* Sony’s ClearVid CMOS Sensor (with Exmor derived technology)
* BIONZ image processor
* 4.0 MP still images
* Sony Face Detection technology
The camera is going to be released on May 30, 2008. You can pre-order yours from Amazon today.
Sony Mylo is back with *drumrolls* Sony Mylo 2. :P The Sony Mylo 2 is like a cross-breed between PMP and a PDA. It’s purportedly more user friendly than the other PDAs in the market because it’s made that way. A review was made in Akihabara News about this latest Sony Mylo and while there are good points, there is also the negs about this sleek looking PMP/PDA.
Probably the most affordable projector around. While other people are lower their cost to hit the $3k barrier, Mitsubishi is already hitting the $2k one. Good, now everyone can afford one - who needs big screen plasma when your entire wall can your screen ;)
You guys need to check this out. This phone is a personal music system - after all, it is (a collaboration) from Bang & Olufsen with Samsung.
According to the girl in the video, “The sound system is absolutely superb”. I can’t really tell from the video itself. For a sound review, these guys would need me to send a set to check it out. How about it? ;)
The IOGear Wallet Drive is a compact option for people on the go. Unlike the usual USB drives you use as keychains this name card size drive fits snugly into your wallet. So you technically can pocket your music, movies etc and just plug and play whenever you come to a computer with USB ports. It is only approximately 3mm thick and 4gig in space. It’s definitely one of the most compact USB drives I’ve seen.
The best thing about this drive is that it only cost $59.90 from Amazon.
SanDisk recently reinvented it’s video/audio players, Sansa View with a higher memory space and at an unbeatable price. The iPod Nano costs $199, comes with an 8 gig space and of course, the brand, Apple as well. But Sansa View does everything that the Nano does except it has twice the capacity with 16 gig and for the same price. You can also add more memory by buying an extra MicroSD/SDHC memory card, which you can easily jack up the space to 24gig.
Well, with this, i conclude that Nano will be ever popular just for its brand name while SanDisk will eventually get a warmer reception for its value.
Hitachi’s world’s first Blu-Ray Camcorder is coming out this year. Although we don’t have the details of when exactly yet. The 2nd quarter of the year is almost ending so…maybe end of the year, just in time for Christmas? One can wish :)
All the have is the mock up of the camcorder for now. It looks pretty futuristic in my opinion. It is about time too that the Blu-Ray camcorder comes out. Hitachi’s new 8cm BD/DVD drive bundled with a biggie, 5.3 megapixel CMOS sensor is capable of recording at full 1,920 x 1,080 resolution. That’s pretty much all the info I can gather for now. I will definitely update when we have more specific details about this gadget soon enough!

Sony has announce digital TV from it’s PSP. Japanese buyers of the PSP can now tune into DVB thanks to their 1 seg terrestrial digital broadcast - something the US and Canada does not have. The PSP-S310 has the digital television add-on will cost somewhere around $58. I can assure you that it will get snapped up so fast, you won’t be done saying “BANZAI”. The release of the PSP-S310 will coincide with the new PSP launch on the 20th of September this year.
Oh whyyyyy is US and Canada so backwards? In Japan they can have TV on the go, while we’re still stuck in our living room watching TV behind a big screen lump of industrial plastic. Where’s the mobility in that?
China’s known for reproducing products that looks exactly like the original. But of course, functionality of these copies are way below the originals of course. But the Yoto MVP-800 has been getting some pretty good reviews from the peeps at Gizmodo, surprisingly. And I must say that the MVP looks pretty sleek too. It is only 9mm thin and has a 2.8-inch 320×240 screen. It is available in 2Gig and 4Gig capacity. The 2 Gig capacity ones, are only $52 bucks too, and that’s pretty cheap for something of this higher than average quality.
Definitely something to check out….IF it will ever get out of China. This product stays in China only. I thought I’d share with you folks how thin and awesome the Yoto MVP-800 is.
Camcorders are not usually known for taking still pictures, which was why I was quite surprise when the the Canon TX1 comes out a winner for taking still pictures with the guys at Gizmodo (who obviously gave it a try). According to them, the video camera is currently the cheapest video recorder you can find in the market that gives you a great bang for your buck.
The picture taking mode for the Canon TX1 is likened to the quality of a 7Megapixel ultra-compact cameras. In my opinion, that’s pretty good as it is. I only use a 6.3MP Fujifilm’s Finepix for my food blog. I may need to do some tweaking after but it’s all good.
So, since the Canon TX1 has better photo camera functionality that most others camcorders, it is still not advised for the sole purpose of photo taking. This camcorder is just an all rounder as it gives good quality HD recording while it allows you to take stills whenever you feel like it. But if you want some serious picture taking gadget, it’s better to invest in a Canon D40 or D200.
