Computer servers not green-friendly
Apparently, computer servers are as bad as SUVs when it comes to carbon emissions. IT departments worldwide could accord for about 2% of the world’s carbon emission, which contributes to the detriment of our earth aka global warming. How interesting and disturbing at the same time, I don’t know where the CO2 is emitted but Jalopnik.com says that the average server produces CO2 like how an 15mpg SUV would produce. God…what are we gonna do?? I love my computer and my internet….sigh.
I know, the necessary evil would be to get rid of SUVs and keep our computer servers. If everyone is cycling and going on the internet, not only will they be smarter and healthier - they would also be saving the world.

I can see what you mean about not seeing where the CO2 is emitted from a computer server and to be honest I can’t think that they do actually pump out any of the stuff themselves.. I can see though how they arrive at the statistics.. The additional Electricity needed to run an increasing amount of servers with the Internet expanding so rapidly must use a whole lot of CO2.
Sometimes its easy to forget that the CO2 has already been used just preparing the energy before you turn on the computer. If there was less demand then I guess the supply would be reduced?
