Sanyo’s Enegreen Microwave

Sanyo has announced a microwave that is both enviromentally friendly and faster than the usual microwave. Introducing the Enegreen microwave - the first every IH hybrid microwave in the market.
The technology used here combines two types of heating - Induction Heat (IH) and the usual microwave energy. The idea is to use IH to cook food from the outside to inside and then the microwave energy will cook the food from the inside to the outside. Double penetration!
When these two cooking method combine, it is supposedly able to cut cooking time by 85%.
Now…if it takes 5 mins to bake a potato in the conventional microwave, it would take about 1.5 mins to cook with the Enegreen Microwave. And because it takes so little time to cook, it will cut down the CO2 emmission as well and according to the guys at Sanyo, it would efficiently cut down CO2 emmission by 37% as compared to other induction ovens.
Not surprisingly, since this technology is relatiively new in the market, its price reflects that novelty. It will cost 624,750 Yen (over $5,000) when it’s released in Japan this April. Just like energy saving bulbs, you pay a bit more but it’ll last longer and is environmentally friendlier too. These days, we as people of the world, cannot be so apathetical about the conditions of our planet anymore. We must do what we can to stop the current global warming situation.
So, would i spent USD5000 + for a microwave when i can get one for $200? Hmm…I would get those energy saving bulbs and a hybrid car but I won’t buy that microwave just yet.
